I have made no secret that I am an extreme introvert with no ability to recognize faces or remember names. But I have other advantages, like a perversely stubborn single-minded focus on accomplishing what I want done—as long as it only involves me and no one else. So I can stifle my shyness and learn to attend conferences and meet readers, but I am incapable of organizing one!
I admire those intrepid souls who see a need and strike out to raise funds or run for public office to accomplish great things, but I am genetically incapable of organizing anyone but myself. And I hate that, because it leaves me frustrated and helpless when I see so much desperation and need around me.
At times like these, I can seek my happy place—my sunny garden—and smell the roses and clear the weeds and drink in the beauty. What do you do when feeling frustrated?
When im feeling frustrated i usually pull out a book i have read before and adored(this week is your magic Malcolm series). Within 10 minutes all my troubles have melted away.
Glad to be of service! My books are often a source of frustration for me but I’ll pull out old favorites from other authors, and you’re right, the world goes away.
Dear Patricia,
I didn’t know where to ask this question, but will you ever write a story of becomes of Emma, Letitia’s sister, who wanted a Conservatory for plants. I so love your Magical Malcolm books that I keep having to reread over and over.
Thanks for asking, Vicky! As of this moment, I’m working through a Magic mystery series and Emma hasn’t come nagging for a story, so sorry, nothing immediate. Although a Malcolm who wants a conservatory…. that does have a lot of potential!
I internalize and when I am done beating myself up, I try to figure solutions. I also count on music to lift me.
And like you, I also like to go to my patio and mess with plants.
Take care –
Music is most excellent! Anything to stop that internatlizing…
