Home again!

As reported last month, I was dreading a long trip and a conference. The conference is now over and I’m glad I pushed myself from my cozy nest. I had a lovely time, and I’m utterly wiped. Amazingly, I enjoyed talking with other authors far more than learning about promotion. Who knew? While I was there, I had new headshots taken. What do you think?

The conference sponsors encouraged us to put our books into our own stores on our websites—have you seen mine?

  1. I just finished reading “Love Forever After,” the first of your books I have read so far. I enjoyed the story immensely and will look for more on my local library site. I stayed up until 3:00 am today after starting my read yesterday morning.

As I said, I enjoyed the book very much, but I did notice quite a few spelling and other errors that should have been caught by a good proofreader. That’s why I always hash out the final versions of my books with my husband, who is very perceptive, bless him.

As you did, I married my high-school sweetheart 62 years ago. He is 81 now and I will turn 81 the end of next month. I am also a self-published writer and have all my books on Amazon. The electronic versions are very cheap and one is free if you belong to the Amazon group (the name of which escapes me and which I am too lazy to look up).

I’m sure you get requests to read others’ work all the time, but I’d love your opinion if you have a little time. My books are all pretty short and easy to read. My sex scenes are even more graphic than yours, I think. One of my friends was reading the first one to a group of older gentlemen in a rest home and came to the first scene without knowing it was there. She was not very happy with me, but the gentlemen were thrilled.

I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

    • thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely comment! I love the idea of reading love scenes in rest homes. I apologize for the typos in LOVE FOREVER AFTER but that book was written in 1990, on a typewriter, when page proofs were corrected by hand and we were only allowed a set number of changes. My how things have changed! It was also one of the first books I had formatted into digital, and even then, it was a very different process than the easy one we have now. The scanners did terrible things to the printed page. I suppose if I had time, I could go back and attempt to turn those old ebooks into Word docs and edit them, but I’d rather write new books!
I work with an author co-op and several other organizations where I try to help edit when I have time. Perhaps you could look around online and find writing partners in your area?

  2. Huge fan! Love all your work, but get a real kick out of the quirky denizens of Hillvale, CA. I’m hoping you do a few more stories from there. So here’s my two cents. Keegan’s brother and Teddy’s sister. Harvey and someone from the California Malcolms, related to both Dorrie and Hannah.
